West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are seeking Neurohospitalists (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.

Duties

The successful candidate will practice in the area of neurology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Qualifications

Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Successful candidate must have completed a neurology residency program and be board certified/eligible in neurology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

As a full member of the WVU Health System, United Hospital Center is part of a broad, integrated network of doctors, hospitals, clinics, and specialized institutes across West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and Ohio. The new UHC opened in 2010. The 692,000-square-foot structure rises eight stories. It is designed around the environment with the patient, family, staff, and community in mind – which includes enhanced patient privacy, a high level of technology integration, and improved access to care. The acute care facility has 292 private inpatient rooms with a medical staff that consist of more than 381 physicians and extenders.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute guides a team of 280 dedicated faculty in providing compassionate patient care and advanced medicine through education, research, and outreach in the many diverse communities we serve. The Institute spearheads efforts to develop innovative solutions for neurological and psychiatric conditions ranging from Alzheimer’s to Parkinson’s; autism to stroke; and paralysis to chronic pain, addictions, and traumatic brain injury.
