Prospective Fellows

Introduction

Neurohospitalist fellowship programs provide advanced training in the clinical, academic, and administrative domains of neurohospitalist medicine. Foundational clinical and didactic education experiences are supplemented by mentored research, quality improvement, and professional development opportunities designed to train future academic and community practice Neurohospitalist leaders. Fellowships are generally one year in duration; start and end dates align with yearly academic calendars (July through June). Salary and benefits support are provided.

Fellowship candidates submit application materials (curriculum vitae, personal statement, three letters of reference) approximately eighteen months prior (February through March) to fellowship program start dates (July, following year). Interviews are conducted in March and April with offers extended thereafter (early May). Several programs participate in a Unified Offer Program (described below) which standardizes offer extension and offer acceptance dates across programs. Please reference individual fellowship program websites for specific application requirements and deadlines.

Neurohospitalist Fellowship Programs

United Offer Program

The Unified Offer Program standardizes fellowship position offer extension and candidate offer acceptance dates across participating neurohospitalist fellowship programs. For fellowship positions beginning in July of 2025, offers will be extended on 06 May 2024 (program to candidate). The candidate acceptance deadline will be 10 May 2024 (candidate response to program offer).

Neurohospitalist Fellowship Program Accreditation

In 2021 the Neurohospitalist Society formed a Fellowship Accreditation Committee to review and accredit neurohospitalist fellowship programs, ensure a standard level of educational quality, and promote training opportunities for neurohospitalists. The first six programs were granted accreditation in July 2022. Please see the ACCREDITATION section of the Neurohospitalist Society website for additional information.
